This one was standing alone, not that far from us and pretty calm. You can notice the front antlers (i don't know the proper word for it) are splitted, which as I heard is not very common.

This species of deer was introduced in 1639 by a Netherland governor. You can cross the path of many herds like this one in the hunting domain of Bel Ombre.

Mangal Mahadev

This is the 1st thing you will come across when arriving to the crater lake of Grand Bassin from this road. Mangal Mahadev is the tallest statue in Mauritius, a 33 m (108 ft)-tall Hindu god called Shiva standing at the entrance of the temple since 2007. Very impressive work !

Another small bird species introduced in Mauritius a long time ago. Not a great picture but I like the way he's looking at the camera.

I don't know his proper name but everyone is calling it the "King Kong" mountain, for obvious reason. This shot was taken early in the morning as we were sailing to the north onboard a catamaran for the day.
